Redistricting maps carve up Pierce County in different ways

In this morning’s column I discuss how the Pierce County redistricting puzzle is proceeding. The challenge for the county Districting Committee and its hired geographer Steven Garret is to redraw the seven council districts, giving them roughly equal-sized populations, but avoiding divided communities. Below are several options that have emerged so far during a series of public hearings.
