Salary panel freezes elected officials’ pay but wanted cuts

The conclusion of this year’s review of elected officials was pretty much foregone: a pay freeze for the state’s elected judges, legislators or statewide officials that runs through September 2013.

The Washington State Citizen’s Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials agreed in Renton yesterday to freeze pay for all three of those categories of elected official. The vote was unanimous for freezing legislator and statewide officials’ pay. Two members, Janet Hays and Robert Mendez, abstained on the judges’ pay.
