Well-known Ohio Democrat Rep. Dennis Kucinich is in the area this week for events in Lakewood and Tacoma Thursday and Friday.

On his website, the two-time presidential candidate invites local supporters to come by the events:

I am so appreciative of the ongoing support and encouragement of so many of our friends in Washington State. Two months ago we had an outstanding turnout in Olympia, with a turnout of over 1,000 to hear my message about the importance of challenging the thinking and the policies which keep our nation at war.

The appearances include:

• A speech at the annual Workers’ Memorial Day observance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, at Western State Hospital, 9601 Steilacoom Blvd., Lakewood. The Pierce County Central Labor Council and Washington Federation of State Employees Local 793 are sponsoring the event. (Speakers start about noon).

• A forum “about the budget and our national priorities” from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, at The Bridge Methodist Church, 5601 S. Puget Sound Ave., Tacoma. (RSVP to budgetforumtacoma@kucinich.us)

  1. Throwing the term “liberal icon” around awfully loosely.

  2. lovethemountains says:
