Rep. Jan Angel, R-Port Orchard, plans a telephone town hall meeting today from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to talk about what’s happening in Olympia during this year’s legislative session.

Callers can ask questions and participate in surveys.

Angel represents the 26th Legislative District, which includes all of Pierce County west of the Tacoma Narrows as well as much of Kitsap County. She said in a statement:

I want to hear from citizens throughout the 26th District and get their views about the budget, jobs, ferries, and other issues we are facing in this session that could affect our local area.

To participate, call (877) 229-8493 and when prompted, enter PIN code: 15472. Press *3 (star 3) to ask a question.

It will be interesting to hear Angel’s ideas on how best to manage the 5.3 Billion $ budget defict.

My gut tells me her ideas don’t require and increase in fees, an increase of regulation on small business or asking the voters to raise taxes.

Guess again – Rep. Angel only sponsored six pieces of legislation this session, and one of them involved “Creating a hair design license.”

These “virtual town halls” are a total sham – representatives like Jan Angel hiding behind a telephone moderator (a member of their own staff) to screen calls so she can avoid any real interaction with her constituents.

She hasn’t held a single public constituent outreach event since she’s been elected – just re-election campaign events hosted by political allies.

A one-hour teleconference – during the middle of the dinner-hour! – is an INSULT to the people that Jan Angel is supposed to be representing.
