I am glad to see this discussion. I have been listening to legislative leaders in the 26th and they don't want to talk about revenue generation and the fact that tribal casinos pay no tax to the state. Some say it is too late for WA state to renegotiate with the tribes after Gregoire made her terrible deal with them in 2006 (then she got $600,000 in donations). I am told tribes will not go back to the table until forced to. Well you will bring them back to the table if they are faced with an expansion of non tribal gaming. Yes this is a slippery slope but thiat genie was let out of the bottle when the tribes decided to open casinos. They will never volunteer to contribute to the tax base until they are forced to make a new deal that keeps out competition in the gaming industry. Don't forget that we are the only state that doesn't tax state tribal casinos.

This will take leadership from the Governor's office. Just won't happen with Gregoire in office. She gets too much money from the tribes. And until she is starved from other sources of revenue she will not discuss this option.
