Both Democratic House incumbents in the 28th Legislative District were facing tough races in the district that includes University Place, Lakewood and DuPont.

Early returns show Democrat Tami Green was leading by 137 votes in her bid to retain the Position 2 seat he’s held since 2005 against Republican challenger Paul Wagemann, a real estate developer and Clover Park School District board member.

For the Position 1 seat, the lead for Troy Kelley against attorney Steve O’Ban was less than 1,000 votes out of more than 24,000 cast.
