A short-lived upbeat atmosphere erupted when King 5 revealed a Dino Rossi lead, before a quick turnover revealed him falling behind with nearly half the state votes tallied.
With 6% of the votes in, the crowd cheers as King 5 anchors tell viewers to keep an eye on the 9th district race, where the “incumbent doesn’t have a cake walk.”
Dick Muri was behind that incumbent, Adam Smith, at 8:30 p.m., but for some in the crowded room the race isn’t over yet.
Muri said he isn’t optimistic, but it is still early.
“Based on the points I expected this,” he said. “It’s still too early to tell.”
