PDC throws out three Roach-Richardson complaints, will investigate one

The campaign for Sen. Pam Roach‘s seat might end Tuesday, but the legal fights will continue in what has got to be the state’s second-most litigious legislative race (first place has to go to the election that might be overturned in court).

Roach successfully sued challenger Matt Richardson over his voter statement, a tea party group is seeking to unseal Richardson’s criminal court file (that effort is now awaiting a hearing), and four complaints have been looked at by the Public Disclosure Commission.

The election regulators at the PDC have now thrown out three of those complaints. They notified Richardson on Saturday they would investigate his complaint that Roach’s mailers about his criminal history defame him.

The PDC dismissed claims by Richardson and a supporter of his, Kathy Hammad, that a website run by Roach supporter Chris Clifford violates election law. The PDC didn’t see the site as political advertising because while it attacked Richardson and called for him to resign as a Sumner city councilman, it didn’t specifically call for people to vote against his Senate candidacy.

The agency also dismissed a complaint by Roach that Richardson hadn’t properly reported campaign spending. Richardson has filed updated reports that give a fuller picture of his finances. He has reported funding his campaign almost entirely with his own money.

I hope the PDC conducts a full and complete investigation as to the truth or falsity of the allegations in the graphic and disturbing mailers. If Mr. Richardson did not plead guilty to molesting young children, as the mailers indicate, then a grievous error was made that should be corrected.

concerned_voter – He DID plead guilty… He’s just now splitting hairs over technicalities about the charges being dropped AFTER he did his time (community service) and that he gave an Alford guilty plea. These two things are supposed to PROVE his innocence and they don’t. Little girls don’t just “make up” stories about what their older male cousin did to them because they’re “out to get him”.

Just wait til mhrichardson starts responding to these comments, as he always does…..

Matt wrote out and signed a confession and guilty plea. He is the only one making the claim about it being a Alford plea. The documents clearly state “Guilty plea”.

On the same document Matt wrote that the “Probable Cause” declaration could serve as a “fact” background for his guilty plea. That document outlines at least two counts of statutory rape.

No matter what lie Matt says even the King County Prosecutors Office states that he was convicted, did his sentence under the conditions of a deferred sentence, and upon completion of the conditions of his guilty plea his sentence was then deferred.

This guy is an idiot to do this. Roach can now get his files openned in an effort to defend herself. Then we will all see the truth. Matt is a convicted child molesting, child raping, pedophile.

This is a clear case for NOTA on the ballots! While Richardson’s problems are of a far different sort, Roach is no angel. Neither are qualified to hold public trust and offices.

This is the exact reason why you don’t have 2 people from the same party against each other in the general Election. State of Washington, get your act together and fix this. Either have political party affiliations so that it becomes “us vs them” or don’t have them at all.
