Hec Edmundson Pavilion is filling up with a crowd that is waiting for the arrival of President Barack Obama.

A line stretches for blocks around the University of Washington campus to see Obama’s rally for Sen. Patty Murray. The audience is flowing into the stands and there’s also a standing room crowd covering a good portion of the basketball court. The court is covered up by carpet, so no scuffing.

Obama won’t be here for a little while. He has a backyard chat to attend, and first he stopped off at a donut shop, according to this pool report:

The president made a surprise visit this a.m. to Top Pot Donuts on 5th Ave near the Westin hotel.

Obama ordered two boxes of donuts. “Who wants a little sample here?” he said, munching on what appeared to be on old fashioned glazed. “You can’t eat these everyday ” he said.

He worked the small crowd inside, and dashed across the street under the monorail to shake hands with a crowd there.

The motorcade zoomed off at 9:35. Now it’s approaching the Ravenna area where he’ll do a backyard chat. Kids lined the street at Nathan Eckstein school to cheer and wave.
