
RALLY INFO: President Obama will appear at the Hec Edmundson Pavilion, 3870 Montlake Blvd NE, on the University of Washington campus at 11 a.m. Thursday. The rally is free and open to the public. TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Those traveling in and around Seattle Thursday can expect “occasional street closures or traffic slowdowns” on local streets and the freeway according to the Seattle Department of Transportation. While exact routes aren’t announced for security reasons, he’ll be at The Westin downtown overnight, traveling to a private residence in the morning, appearing at UW at 11 a.m., then flying out of Boeing Field.
AIRSPACE: The FAA is closing airspace over Seattle during the visit and it hopes to avoid a repeat of what happened when the president was in Seattle in August. Fighter jets scrambled when a small float plane flew into Seattle and landed on Lake Washington at Kenmore. The jets caused two sonic booms that alarmed many people.
