Washam sets another public meeting Nov. 1

Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer Dale Washam has set another in his continuing series of public meetings to talk about the county property tax system.

It’s scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 1 at the South Hill library, 15420 Meridian E.

He wants people to know about physical property inspections that were skipped from 2001-2008 in favor of statistical analysis of values, he has said. State law requires an in-person assessment of a property every six years.

Washam has tried unsuccessfully to convince authorities to launch a criminal investigation into the actions of his predecessor, Ken Madsen.

ASSESSOR-TREASURER DALE WASHAM WILL HOLD NOVEMBER 1st, 2010 PUBLIC MEETING

Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer Dale Washam will continue to hold his series of monthly open citizen’s meeting on Monday, November 1st, 2010 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The public meeting will be held at the Pierce County South Hill Library, located at 15420 Meridian East, in South Hill.

Since Mr. Washam took office, there have been a number of significant issues brought to light. Events that took place through 2001 through 2008 continue and will continue to impact every Pierce County property owner.

Dale would like you to know that if you really care about honest and open government you have a responsibility to participate in it and keep it honest. Therefore, Dale respectfully requests you attend the above meeting on November 1st. Please bring other Pierce County taxpayers with you for an evening of patriotic citizen participation.

    That should be interesting. A physical inspection every SIX years? They must have been to my place four times in twelve months because I’ve received those “green” cards that show a re-evalution and increase on my property no less than four times this YEAR! In a declining market where my neighbors can’t even sell their homes for their taxed value and some have even gone below their taxed value and they still can’t be sold, I wonder how they can justify such an increase especially when the valuation is based on what someone who didn’t have to buy a home would pay for it. I thinks they’re are all frick’n crook’s that continue to increase my value several times throughout the year and only decrease it at the beginning of a year, if at all. LOL. They have never-ever-ever decreased my value several times in a year! The Board of Equalization is a joke to deal with. They can’t be reasoned with and their justifications will leave you pulling your hair out! Arrogant pigs that abuse their power is what they are. It’s all very, very frustrating.
