Clint Didier still not backing Dino Rossi, but wants Patty Murray to lose

Clint Didier continues to resist endorsing fellow Republican Dino Rossi against Sen. Patty Murray, after losing to both in the August primary election.

In an open letter to Republicans on a new website his campaign consultant created, Didier explains why he offered only a conditional endorsement of Rossi, requiring pledges that Rossi won’t support increasing taxes or government spending and will support strong legislation against abortion.

He writes that the Republican Party has asked him for a “unity function” to “bring the two camps together,” but he won’t do it until Rossi makes the pledges he wants. He’s gotten some grief for his stance:

I am receiving both applause and consternation. Therefore, an explanation is in order. I want Patty Murray to lose in November as much as any Republican. That is exactly why I have chosen the course I have in making a conditional endorsement.

I want to thank Clint for running . He brought passion and a sense of urgency we never see . He can fire up a crowd like nobody I’ve ever seen. I hope he sticks with public service we need leaders with passion..

Someone needs to remind Clint Didier that he lost the primary by a significant percentage. The only thing that he can do now is either help the Republicans beat Murray or hurt their efforts. He is acting like a spoiled brat because he can’t get his way. Please Clint, either get on board and help us to remove Murray from office or just go away.

  3. If Dino is running as a Republican then all Clint is asking is that Dino endorse the Republican party platform. If the Republican Party wants unity then they had better ask their candidate to support their platform or run as an Independent or a Democrat while they support someone who does openly support the Republican platform values.

Looks like the real problem lies within the Republican party leadership. I am a Republican and am dissappointed in that they wont follow their own platform so we all no where everyone stands. It has been adopted at their conventions so they should be familiar with it. Republicans if you really want unity then lead by following your platform, pretty simple.

  4. Someone needs to remind Rossi that he needs every single vote he can get to win. Didier’s 13% of the primary may not be much but when Rossi needs more than that to win the general election he better start saying please and thank you to potential supporters. If anyone has a problem with that you can enjoy another 6 years of Patty you faux republicans.

Didier voters are fed up with the way this country is being run–plain and simple. Even Republicans are fed up with a great many of the Republicans and how they’re not staying true to the platform we expect of Repubs.

Is it really too much to ask that a Republican candidate like Rossi, commit to the Republican platform? I don’t think so. In this aspect Didier and many of his voters expect some sort of committment if Rossi wants their vote.

This is about more than politics as usual. It’s about taking a stand and making our voices heard. We want something different than politics as usual. If that is all Dino is…well, then it won’t really matter whether we have Murray or Rossi in there.

Very disappointed in Dino Rossi. I voted for him for Governor twice. I voted Didier for Senate in primary. Rossi COULD get my vote, but he better step up to the plate and commit to something or go home a loser a 3rd time.
