Shoot Murray? ‘That’s not really what you meant,’ Rossi says after woman’s outburst

Republicans want voters mad, but not this mad.

At a recent campaign event, Dino Rossi was quick to cool down a woman whose outburst veered way, way off message.

The angry business owner said Rossi opponent Sen. Patty Murray “ought to be shot, according to an account in a Seattle Times profile of Rossi. The woman suggested the same Second Amendment remedy for Sen. Maria Cantwell.

The partisan anger that Didier has tapped was heard at a business round-table lunch in Spokane.

One woman, the owner of two gyms and a temporary-employment agency, was venting about a pro-union bill supported by Murray when she blurted out: “She ought to be shot. Murray and (Sen. Maria) Cantwell ought to be shot.”

Rossi quickly pointed out a reporter in the room, and then said, “That’s not really what you meant.” The businesswoman quickly agreed: “I didn’t mean that.”

  1. Obviously this TEA party lady needs to relax…

I drew a political cartoon specifically for people like that!

  2. Has Dino Rossi alerted the secret service? Why must he pall around with disturbed wanna be assassins?

  3. I refudiate my previous comment! I meant PAL

  4. Unnamed sources later confirmed that the suspect really meant to say water boarded.

@ Nine/Nachos – So he calms down the hyperactive rhetoric, brings some civility to the campaign trail and you still can’t evem complement that. Congrats on reaching true Kool-Aid drinker status.

@ The Slag – Like many of us who have lost loved ones to that terrible disease, Dino Rossi lost his mother to breast cancer. You’re a real class act…

  6. stetsonwalker says:

I will say this, she should be unemployed!

  7. stetsonwalker says:

I am referring to Murray and Cantwell!

  8. lovethemountains says:

NineInchNachosll, you’re a real class act aren’t you. Never heard or seen anything of your “cartoons” and I can certainly see why. Don’t quit your day job.

  9. tinypuyallup: lot’s of people have lost loved ones because of gun totin’ loonies. Locking up tearorists like that Rossi supporter would do wonders for national health.
Making excuses for the republican hate militia can seriously wreak havoc with what’s left of your Karma and can always come back to bite you in the rump!

  10. EatonvilleTaxPayer says:

The fact that a Rossi supporter blurted out something that she didn’t mean literally is being blown out of proportion by the media–as usual.

How many times have you said something like, “Oh…I’m gonna kill that damn cat if it craps in my flower beds again,” You don’t mean it. You just are fed up and angry about the situation.

Don’t give the media control people….

  11. jandkgibbs says:

It is now known to the media that the lady was a Murry supporter planted at the event to cause this to happen. She was seen with a video camera in hopes of filming the audience clapping but that didn’t happen so the media took what they and ran with it.

This tactic is as old as the woods so don’t fall for a Sal Lewinsky trick taken from the “Rules for Radicals” playbook.

I wonder if we will see a report that clarifies this bogus reporting? Doubt it.

  12. Roncella says:

The Slag, I didn’t hear you or other extreme Liberal/Progressives get upset when a Rep. from the state on New Hamp. wished Sarah Palin was on a plane that crashed in Alaska killing for people.

That wish was followed up by another rep. from New Hamp. wishing that both Sarah Palin and Levi (father to Palins grandchild) were on the same plane that crashed in Alaska.

Some liberal/Progressives need to cool the hate that they are causing by making mean, nasty, hateful statements. Very sad, and disappointing how low some will sink to make a political point.
