Clint Didier and Paul Akers made a joint announcement Thursday night that was beset by technical difficulties:

The gist of it: Didier and Akers are staying in the U.S. Senate race, but they’re joining forces to do joint radio commercials.

“This is unprecedented,” Didier said in their online broadcast last night. “We are innovators, to say the least,” Akers said.

The pair of conservative Republican candidates have been struggling for oxygen in the race to knock off Democratic Sen. Patty Murray. Neither has the kind of money or name ID Murray or Republican Dino Rossi have. Rossi has been treating the race as virtually a two-person contest, leveling his fire at Murray.

They hope their forces combined can force Rossi to pay attention to them, challenging him to a debate.

They said establishment Republicans have been putting out the message behind the scenes that they can’t win. “People are pulling strings at every possible level to discount and marginalize Clint Didier and Paul Akers,” Akers said.

UPDATE: Didier consultant Kathryn Serkes says radio spots will start next week around the state.

The two have lagged Rossi and Murray in the money chase, but Serkes said Didier isn’t entering into this partnership because he lacks money. He’s been running radio commercials east of the mountains for a while, and started ads in Puget Sound the past two weeks, showing up on talk radio and other stations, Serkes said.

“This is not about pooling money. We’ve been on the air and we’ll be on the air,” she said. “This is about a message that they both wanted to get out there.”

  1. Setting aside for a moment the bizarreness of the flubbed roll-out, does anyone know if this is even legal? I’m having trouble understanding how a candidate can use their campaign dollars to buy ads promoting another candidate.

  2. LetsGet_it_Right says:

Al Gore apparently invented this internet technology so it’s Bound to Fail. And if you believe Gore… you’re probably a Patty Murray supporter and obviously like failure.

I totally agree with Akers & Diddier… Where’s Dino the “No Show”? I found out what he’s REALLY been up to HERE:

  3. mojjonation says:

Nice to see that even Didier can stoop as low as the big two parties in pointing out someone elses weaknesses without actually having any substance of his own. Too bad it is all for not since Tennis Shoe Murray will be up against Mobster Rossi in the end.

  4. mojjonation says:

Should have added…..Joe Arpaio for Washington State Governor.

  5. backtobasics says:

Amazing. Hard working Americans have no substance, huh? Well, that IS the attitude of the political machine parties who have no respect for We the People.
In their eyes, our Constitution has no substance either.

  6. SFKemerson says:

Let’s take inventory here and see if I understand this right…

    1) Didier and Akers (whoever that is) are blaming their inability to gain traction on national interest “pulling strings” in our local election.

    2) In June, Didier goes back to D.C. and begged those same “insiders” for money. Also, he has Palin and Ron Paul (last time I checked, neither are from WA St.) promoting his campaign.

    3) These 2 faint radar blips are whining the 2 leading candidates won’t debate them. But they don’t plan on debating the other 11 candidates. Why shouldn’t all single-digit percenters be heard? What about Goodspaceguy, Mike the Mover and the lady who forgot to submit her voters pamphlet info?

It appears the “non-politicians” are leaning political hypocracy quickly.

  7. EatonvilleTaxPayer says:

Talk about team work and the ability to find a clever way to save money! The willingness of Akers and Didier to work together is refreshing and commendable. They share a lot of the same positions on various issues, so why not work together. Their goals remain the same–to help get this country back on track, end big govt. and get off the fast track socialist train before it derails.

GREAT JOB GUYS! We fully support you CLINT DIDIER and you have our votes hands down. Check out Didier at http://www.clintdidier.org
