Local Republican activist Dick McEntee passed on over the weekend. His family shared this obituary with us:

J. Richard “Dick” McEntee, two-time candidate for state auditor, died on Sunday after a short battle with cancer.

He had been a councilman in Fircrest from 1969 to 1973. He had been active in the 28th District Republicans, served as treasurer for the Pierce County Republicans and was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2000.

He served on Gov. Booth Gardner’s food processing council from 1987 to 1991.

Dick and his wife, Kathy, were very involved in the pro-life movement, beginning in the early 1970s. He worked with the Voice of the Unborn and Human Life of Washington. Kathy was the founder and president of Washington State March for Life, and he was serving as treasurer of that organization at the time of his death.

A rosary and viewing will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Tacoma. A funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles.
