State Rep. Dan Roach has made it official: he’s running for Pierce County Council.

Roach, a Bonney Lake Republican, filed his candidate paperwork with the state Public Disclosure Commission last week. He’ll run to represent council District 1, which covers much of East Pierce County and stretches from Milton to Mount Rainier.

Roach has represented the 31st Legislative District since 2001. So far he has one opponent for the County Council seat: Longtime Tacoma firefighter and union leader Pat McElligott also filed to run last month.

The candidates will vie to replace Councilman Shawn Bunney, R-Lake Tapps, who cannot seek re-election because of term limits. Bunney has announced he will seek Roach’s seat in the Legislature.

  1. PULEEEZE!!! Not more political musical chairs. This whole thing is incestuous.

  2. S_Emerson says:

So what’s Bunney gonna do when his term ends – run for Roach’s seat, or run for Auditor?

    YUCK!
