Having Talbert on the short list tells us what they think about the peoples’ vote on term limits. Having the shortlist approved unanimously and without discussion tells us what the city council meeting really is, a plain farce and waste of time. It always seemed weird how often votes are unanimous. In this case, it really reeks. We vote for new council members and immediately they behave like the good ol’ boys. WTF.

They are just lucky that they are not up for election now!

This was a back room deal, plain and simple, and should not be allowed to stand. Were I one of the 36 bypassed-without-an-interview candidates, I would seek a court injunction to halt the process until a formal hearing on whether public meeting laws were violated is held.

Is anyone else upset by the reappearance through this process of politicians who have already serve out their maximum term limit?

To misquote a few words from summit98466, I wonder if someone on the council has integrity... because if this is an example of how they intend to do business the answer is clearly that no one on the council does.

Innocent enough, if they were receiving so-so legal advice, however, you're guaranteed to get a lawsuit on this one from one of those passed over applicants.

Being these are 2 big decisions on who will represent voteless voters, who get stuck paying for the lawsuit, I wonder if someone on the Council will have the integrity to say flat out a mistake was made & then take transparent steps to remedy the mistake.

From 44 applicants to 8 finalist in a few short hours but no vote was taken behind closed doors? The other option is that they've been discussing it in groups of 2-3 and meeting with special interests so that, by the time they got to Executive Session, the decisions were already made.
