Former Tacoma City Manager Ray Corpuz is weathering political upheaval in his new town of Seaside, Calif. Here’s the latest from the Monterey Herald.

SEASIDE, Calif- The results are in and the Seaside Police Officers Association (POA) has no confidence in City Manager Ray Corpuz.

The Seaside POA held the vote of no confidence ten days ago and just got the results Tuesday. The association says that the POA needed a majority of its member to vote for the no confidence to pass.

According to the President of the POA, Detective Nick Borgess, Corpuz is at the root of all of the issues coming out of the police department and Corpuz needs to be held accountable.

Here’s an earlier post on Corpuz’s battle with the Seaside police chief and another Herald story.

    Imagine that !

Dan’s boyfriend and mentor in trouble again !

  2. After we get rid of our big business obsessed city managers we send them south so they can continue their dreams. You see there’s no loyalty to the local people or the home we used to have here.

Here’s what I don’t get. Corpus was ostracized for not taking decisive action when rumors started coming out about problems with his Police Chief in Tacoma. He moves to Seaside as their Manager. A complaint was filed that suggests the police chief in Seaside acted inappropriately. He quickly puts the Chief on paid administrative leave while the authorities investigate the complaint. For acting quickly he gets criticism. The old saying is so true: you’re dammed if you do and you’re dammed if you don’t. Say what you want about Mr. Corpus, but Tacoma was at least on the upward move when he was here.

  4. Anyone remember that old Toyota commercial? “You asked for it, you got it”.
Tacoma was on an upward move when he was here because of all the backs he walked on to get it. Now,even all his big business buddies (read: Russell) are heading for the hills.
