Swedish Medical Center will be the backdrop for a health care-related press event today in Seattle.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be joined by most Democratic members of the state’s congressional delegation at the hospital this afternoon.

According to an advisory, the speaker will talk to hospital officials about the federal health bill that passed the House Saturday.

The speaker and other congressmen tour the hospital, including the intensive care unit where staff have been developing way to reduce pneumonia that sometimes results from ventilator use. Such pneumonia is a significant cause of death across the nation, according to a release issued by U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott.
