The Pierce County Council has canceled its budget hearings today because of problems with the sound system in the council chambers.

Workers have been trying to repair the system, but as of Thursday afternoon it still wasn’t working properly.

The council had planned to meet at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. today to continue work on the 2010 budget. Instead, it continued several ordinances addressing the budget until 9 a.m. on Monday, when budget hearings continue. The hearings are in the council chambers, Room 1045, County-City Building, 930 Tacoma Ave. S.

The council plans to finish the budget at its regular meeting Tuesday.
