I spoke with Pierce County Auditor Jan Shabro this morning. The latest returns show she’s still trailing Julie Anderson in the auditor’s race.
Shabro isn’t ready to concede defeat. With ranked choice voting, “you don’t know until all the votes are counted,”

Shabro said.
Nonetheless, she added: “Regardless of the outcome, I think I’m leaving the office better than I found it.”
Shabro won the endorsement of the union representing her employees, who like the way she’s handled three rounds of budget cuts in the department.
Shabro said she can sleep well at night – literally. She said she left the office after the first round of results came out last night and was asleep when I tried to reach her at about 10:30.
