Incumbent Kurt Miller looked like he would easily best challenger Stan Smith, who was making his second run for a board seat, in the race for Position 4, based on early vote returns.

In the Position 2 race, both Catherine Ushka-Hall and Jerry Thorpe had emerged as winners from a six-candidate primary in August which squeezed out incumbent Connie Rickman. Early returns showed Ushka-Hall winning over Thorpe.
