I’d almost forgotten this is candidate filing week until I got this news release from Susan Hutchison‘s campaign.

King County Executive theoretically is a nonpartisan job, but there are 4 Democrats, (plus, whatever Hutchison is) in the race. Or 4 boys and a girl in the race. Hmmm. Ya think she might be one of the survivors in a Top Two primary?

Fred Jarrett, Ross Hunter, Dow Constantine and Larry Phillips are the boys and the Democrats.

SEATTLE: Susan Hutchison today filed the necessary paperwork to place her name on the August ballot as a candidate for the office of King County Executive, her campaign announced this morning. Documents were submitted to King County Elections in advance of Fridays filing deadline.

King County is a diverse region, with unique interests and challenges, said Hutchison. If we are to move this region forward we must start working together to solve the complex problems we face.

As executive director of a $100 million philanthropic foundation, Chair of the Seattle Symphony and board member of several community institutions, Hutchison has developed a proven record of uniting diverse groups, and introducing new ideas to solve problems. As County Executive, Hutchison is committed to bringing business, labor and environmental communities together to move King County forward.

Im proud to be supported by Democrats and Republicans, farmers and environmentalists, small business owners and corporate executives, and other members of our diverse neighborhoods and communities, said Hutchison. Among Hutchisons endorsers are Democratic State Auditor Brian Sonntag, Republican State Attorney General Rob McKenna, former Democratic Congressman Don Bonker, and former Republican Secretary of State Ralph Munro.

During our campaign we will introduce bold initiatives to help small business create jobs, reform the budget, cut wasteful spending, and improve transportation, said Hutchison. These initiatives will bring people together behind a common good to improve our quality of life and the region we care so deeply about.

Hutchisons campaign also flipped the switch on its new website, www.susanhutchison.com, where voters can learn more about Susan, her position on the issues, and join the growing family of volunteers and supports.

Susan Hutchison currently serves as Executive Director of the Charles Simonyi Fund for Arts and Sciences a $100 million philanthropic foundation based in Seattle that provides grants to arts, science and education programs. and was a former Emmy Award-winning anchor for KIRO-TV.
