Interestingly, it includes state Rep. Hans Dunshee, D-Snohomish, who will advise Lands Commissioner Peter Goldmark, and Sen.-elect Kevin Ranker, a Democrat who also is a San Juan County Commissioner, for the moment, anyway. Ranker is Goldmark’s aquatics adviser.

And in case you wondered what happened to Gov. Chris Gregoire‘s campaign press secretary after she won reelection, Aaron Toso is on Goldmark’s transition team, too.

Olympia – Public Lands Commissioner-elect Peter Goldmark today announced members of his transition team. These leaders will help him usher in a new vision of environmental sustainability and economic opportunity on our state’s lands.

"I’m pleased and thankful to have such a talented group of individuals willing to serve in a critical role," said Goldmark. "These leaders share my commitment to the sustainable management of our public lands for generations to come."

Goldmark’s transition team is made up of seven work groups tasked to address specific issue areas. Work groups consist of approximately six to ten participants. The work group and its corresponding chair(s) are as follows:

Personnel – DJ Mark, former deputy Insurance Commissioner and veteran of state government operations

Budget – Rep. Hans Dunshee

Legislative – Clifford Traisman, Washington Conservation Voters and Ted Sturdevant, Washington State Department of Ecology

Climate Change & Clean Energy – Nancy Hirsh, NW Energy Coalition and Peter Moulton, Washington State Community, Trade & Economic Development

Aquatic Lands – Sen.-elect Kevin Ranker

Forest Lands – Becky Kelley, Washington Environmental Council

Agricultural Lands – Read Smith, Washington State Farming and the Environment Initiative and member of Ruckelshaus Center

Fred Olsen, a retired state employee who most recently worked in the Office of the Governor, is serving as the transition advisor to Goldmark’s efforts.

Goldmark also announces the appointment of Edie Gilliss and Aaron Toso who will staff his transition team.

Gilliss most recently led Progressive Majority as their state director.

Toso most recently served on Gov. Chris Gregoire’s successful re-election campaign has her press secretary.

"Edie and Aaron both have the energy and dedication to protecting the public interest that will help make the transition as smooth as possible," said Goldmark."
