We’re now more than a week into the stalemate between Tacoma’s Click Network and Fisher Broadcasting, owner of KOMO (the ABC affiliate airing on Channel 4 locally).
Their dispute – over how much Click will pay Fisher to air KOMO and four other channels that I don’t get so I don’t care about – means Click customers are only getting the message at right on their screens when they turn to Channel 4.

I don’t know about other Click customers, but I’ve found that I’m getting along just fine without KOMO. I watch KIRO, KING and Q13 for news. The Super Bowl will be on Channel 7 (KIRO), and the few ABC shows I like (“Castle,” “Happy Endings”) can be seen On Demand. The only downside is that I can’t fast forward through the ads when in On Demand mode like I can when I DVR the shows.
Is anyone missing something in particular with Channel 4 being down? There are so many other options for viewers now, that I have to think the big loser is Fisher. This has to be hurting its ratings. I don’t know a lot about how television works, but I’m guessing the issue will be resolved before the next “sweeps” period (Jan. 31 through Feb. 27), when ratings are more important than usual.
