Word that Hostess plans to shut down in the wake of union and management woes is sad news for the company’s 18,500 workers – including more than 100 at its Seattle bakery.
Junk-food lovers – who have long savored Hostess’ sugary Twinkies, Ho Hos, Sno Balls, Cupcakes (my favorite) and Ding Dongs – have many other options. So after a brief period of mourning, they’ll be OK.
My question is, what will the fair vendors who deep-fry Twinkies use now? They should keep their fingers crossed that some other company buys the rights to make the confection.
