Let's see if I'm smart enough to get this: You think that I, as a worker should settle my claim at 80 cents on the dollar. A lot of bread for a man that can't work. Now what happens when my funds run out? I can't work, I have no income and I can't support myself or my family. I go on welfare. And I put an even larger strain on another system that is going to need bailing out. Or, do I just go live downtown under a bridge? The L&I system is there for injured employees. If L&I didn't take over 10 years to settle my case, my medical bills would have been paid by Medicare and NOT the State. They spent 3 years and went before the L&I Judges 6 times haggling over how much my employer was responsible for paying. It had nothing to do with ME, but with the MONEY. How much was wasted on Lawyers? How much of the employees funds will be paid out to shysters out for a quick buck? Want to FIX the system? Then FIX the one we have. DON'T screw thew workers out of what they will NEED to survive!!!
