There are no fairweather Dawgs fans in March

It is easy to be a Husky fan in March. For most of us, that is.

As a proud UW grad and admitted lackluster fan, playoff time for the Dawgs finally gets me off the sidelines and into the game. On the couch, of course.

Regardless of the outcome of tomorrow’s UW vs. North Carolina game (my bracket has UW winning, natch), the last few weeks of watching the Dawgs has been thrilling. On top of the knuckle-biting games, I took great pleasure sitting in a tavern with my WSU buddies as UW beat the Cougs. Next came the long-awaited sound of my Pullman friends grinding their teeth when UW moved to the NCAA tournament and WSU got sentenced to the NIT. But the best feeling came as I watched my Cougar buds make the painful and awkward metamorphosis to Husky fans.

It was like watching a hungry man biting into a lemon.

So why do they do it? Because we all love a winner.
