The poor are going to suffer simply because they have no lobbyists to take politicians to dinner.

This applies not only to the rank and file but the higher echelon as well? For the most part they draw a good wage, have benefits that many private companies don’t offer, not much chance the company will have to lay them off to stay in business and a more than generous retirement plan. Since the state’s finances are in such a mess, let them share some of the cuts also.
