Shaun White wins another X Games title

Ligety will be featured in TV movie

Say what you will about Ted Shred, but the guy knows how to plug a movie. Ted Ligety won a World Cup GS this morning. You can see him next tomorrow evening on NBC (8 p.m. EST, but check your local listings) in the movie “Truth in Motion,” which documents Team USA’s prep for Vancouver.

Ted Ligety wins GS as he preps for Olympics

Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety appears to be in top form heading into the Olympics. He won a World Cup today in Slovenia.

Ted Ligety couldn’t have asked for a better buildup toward next month’s Vancouver Games.

The latest on the snow woes at Olympic freestyle venue

The latest on the Cypress snow woes from JEREMY HAINSWORTH of the AP:

Snow or no snow, freestyle skiing and snowboarding at Cypress Mountain will go forward.

Crews are working around the clock using natural and man-made snow to ensure courses are ready, Tim Gayda, vice president of sport for the Winter Games, said Thursday.

“We are running these events at Cypress,” Gayda said. “We have no intention of moving from that venue. We have enough people and enough snow to get the job done.”

More on Seattle native, Olympic XC skier Holly Brooks

MIKE CAMPBELL of our sister paper, the Anchorage Daily News, was able to catch up with cross country skier Holly Brooks yesterday after she was named to the U.S. Olympic team.

Here’s what Brooks, who grew up in Seattle, had to say:

Anchorage cross-country skier Holly Brooks saw disappointment turn to delight Tuesday morning when the U.S. Ski Team called to tell her to pack her bags for Vancouver and the Winter Olympics.

The call came about 8:10 a.m. and went to the answering machine she and husband Rob Whitney share. Brooks was in the bathroom brushing her teeth.

U.S. XC Olympic team adds an 11th skier

From the U.S. Ski Team:

A final skier has been added to the 2010 Olympic Cross Country Ski Team. Simi Hamilton (Aspen, CO), a former All American from Middlebury College, was announced Thursday after the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association received an 11th and final quota spot. Two athletes were named Tuesday in addition to the original eight announced last week.

Hamilton, who is now training with coaches Travis Jones and Rick Kapala in the Sun Valley Olympic Development Program, is one of the fastest U.S. sprinters. He won four qualifiers in the USSA SuperTour, Canadian NorAm and U.S. Championship
