Ligety ends season with title, Spokane skier shines again

From U.S. Ski Team:
Ted Ligety won the Giant Slalom on the final day of the 2007 racing season. The victory at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, was his sixth career gold medal at the U.S. Alpine Championships.

Will Brandenburg of Spokane continued a dominant showing at nationals with another junior title. He finished second overall in the GS. He won the junior title in the Super G and Downhill. A missed gate in the Slalom cost him the junior titles in that event and the combined.

Also of note:
- Bode Miller didn’t make the first run.
- Crystal Mountain’s Scott Macartney didn’t start the second run

Versus (formerly OLN) will televise highlights from the championships Saturday at 3 p.m. (Pacific)

Paul McDonald of Bellevue was fourth.

Resi Stiegler won the women’s slalom title which was good enough to get her the combined silver. Kaylin Richardson took the combined gold.
