From U.S. Ski Team:
Jimmy Cochran won his first U.S. Alpine Nationals in three years with two solid runs in the slalom earlier today. Like his two gold medals three years ago, this win also came at Alyeska Resort in Alaska.
“I don’t know what it is, but I wish they’d hold a World Cup up here,” Cochran said in a statement released by the U.S. Ski Team. “That would be very nice.”
Ted Ligety finished second to claim the combined (Downhill and slalom) title.
Paul McDonald of Bellevue was fourth.
Resi Stiegler won the women’s slalom title which was good enough to get her the combined silver. Kaylin Richardson took the combined gold.
OTHER NOTES:
- Will Brandenburg of Spokane was disqualified in the second run in the slalom after winning junior titles for downhill and Super G.
- Bode Miller was third in the slalom.
- Julia Mancuso was sixth in the women’s race.
