The commander of the Army Western Regional Medical Command will soon leave Fort Lewis to become the service’s deputy surgeon general, the Pentagon announced this week.
It’s the third assignment for Maj. Gen. Patricia Horoho since July 2008. The man who will replace her, Maj. Gen. Philip Volpe, is no stranger to Fort Lewis: He previously served as commander of the 62nd Medical Brigade.
Horoho arrived at Fort Lewis last July as commander of both the six-state medical region, Madigan Army Medical Center and the Army Nurse Corps.
