The Pentagon is makin’ it rain

The Department of Defense sends out a bulletin each afternoon with the contracts it awarded that day. We’re talking defense bucks, so the figures get much, much larger than anything most people will ever see.

Yesterday’s e-mail included three contracts involving Washington. So it seems like as good of a time as any to try to kick off what will hopefully become a regular feature here at FOB Tacoma: Anytime a Washington business is listed or the work will take place in Washington, we’ll post it.

Local links, Sept. 1

I forgot yesterday to plug my colleague Kris Sherman’s story about two local school districts receiving a Department of Defense grant.

Clover Park and Bethel will receive $2.5 million through the Department of Defense Educational Activity program aimed at helping struggling kids do better in class. Clover Park, with about 4,000 military dependents, will receive a cool $2 mil of the dough. Bethel has about 1,450 children of military parents.
