Look for a war documentary with a lot of advance buzz to make its local premiere this weekend at the Grand Cinema in downtown Tacoma. Some have compared it to “The Hurt Locker,” but without actors. And it’s about Afghanistan, not Iraq.
The 94-minute film is called “Restrepo,” named for a 15-man U.S. military outpost in the rugged Korengal Valley of Eastern Afghanistan, which in turn was named for an American medic, Pfc. Juan Sebastian “Doc” Restrepo, who was killed in action three summers ago.
