Wounded Air Force EOD technician from JBLM competing in military Warrior Games this week

Two weeks ago, we wrote about a pair of Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldiers who were heading to Colorado to participate in this year’s Warrior Games for wounded and ill service members. It turns the base south of Tacoma sent at least one airman, too.

Soldiers in Afghanistan remember fallen JBLM sergeant

Soldiers who served with a Joint Base Lewis-McChord sergeant killed in Afghanistan Monday remembered him as an effective infantryman and a model noncommissioned officer.

The Defense Department today reported that Sgt. Nicholas Dickhut, 23, was killed by enemy small arms fire in the Zharay District of Afghanistan’s Kandahar Province. His family acknowledged his death to Minnesota news outlets on Monday.

Dickhut deployed to Afghanistan in December with Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment and was working as a forward observer on an assignment with Fort Bragg’s 82nd Airborne Division.
