Joint Base Lewis-McChord senior commander Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti this week sent home from Afghanistan a letter wishing happy holidays to Washington’s military communities. He’s leading about 500 soldiers from the base’s I Corps as the war’s day-to-day commander.
His letter follows. Come back to thenewstribune.com Sunday to check out holiday greetings from Washington soldiers serving overseas.
To the Pacific Northwest and South Sound Communities –
Cindy and I would like to wish you and your families a joyous holiday season and a very happy New Year. This is a time for family, celebration, and generosity.
As we reflect on the past year and the tremendous service each of our JBLM Soldiers, Airmen, DOD Civilians and their Families have made, we are compelled to count our blessings and be thankful.
We are thankful for the tremendous courage, professionalism and above all, dedication to duty from our servicemembers and their families. It is an honor and privilege to serve with you and be a part of I Corps and to call the Pacific Northwest and the JBLM community our home. I believe we share the common values of selflessness, perseverance and honor. This foundation has given us the strength and focus to support our deployed units, Soldiers, Airmen and their families.
For those with loved ones currently deployed this holiday season please know that your Soldiers contribution to our country will not be forgotten. Each day their bravery is directly impacting the safety of our homeland and protecting America from Violent extremists.
May you and your loved ones be blessed with health happiness and prosperity this holiday season.
Curtis M. Scaparrotti
Lieutenant General, U.S. Army
I CORPS Commanding.
