A new Special Forces battalion dedicated its headquarters at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in honor of Tacoma-born Sgt. Maj. Bradly Conner, a Green Beret who was killed in Iraq four years ago.

Sgt. Maj. Bradly D. Conner, 41, a Special Forces company sergeant major assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, Wash., was fatally wounded when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) struck the M1114 in which he was riding on May 9 near Al-Hilah, Iraq.
