Family just returned from a great and well deserved vacation in California…and then received this news!! The events/his actions to be documented in the citation justifies this honor…..I am sure he will tell of many other soldiers actions just as deserving….you will be equally impressed when the story of his continued service to wounded/injured soldiers and their families is revealed. Terrific soldier….better person!!

But for the TNT, the verb is “awarded,” not “earned.” You earn your salary; this is way above and beyond earning. If you look at the official US Army press release, the word “earned” is not used.

You “earn” deployment ribbons and such. All you have to do to get them is to be there. Using earned demeans what he did.

I know it is semantics.
