A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. for an intelligence soldier killed while in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The ceremony will be held in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Main Chapel.

Sgt. Faith R. Hinkley, 23, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Aug. 7 in Baghdad, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked her unit in Iskandariya, Iraq.

She was assigned to the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The battalion deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in September, 2009.

A News Tribune reporter will be attending the event this afternoon. Read tomorrow’s newspaper for more coverage.

  1. killemall says:

God Bless this soldier and her family. America’s next great generation is here now making untold scrafices!

  2. One has become so used to the deaths of male soldiers that it barely has any effect anymore – but a young girl! This ‘war’ is so pointless.
It must be breaking her family’s hearts.
