About 100 soldiers assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s 24th Quartermaster Company return home today after an 11-month deployment to Afghanistan.

The company, part of the 593rd Sustainment Brigade, initially was tasked with establishing a warehouse and providing logistical and maintenance support for units stationed at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand province.

The unit was later given the jobs of providing vehicle maintenance, conducting battle-damage assessments, repairing damaged vehicles and conducting supply convoys throughout southern and western Afghanistan.
