sorting out that growth plan the Army announced announced earlier this month, you might have better luck looking it over at your own pace at the Grow the Army web site.

It includes pdfs showing Army growth in each state and overseas location, including this one for Washington.

On closer inspection, nearly a third of the growth at Lewis — 555 soldiers — will come in the form of additional troops for the three local Stryker brigades.

If I’m reading this right, they’ll each get:

&bull A deputy commander and driver.

&bull A 42-troop military police platoon.

&bull Two dozen more soldiers for the headquarters.

&bull 103 soldiers to replace the civilian computer contractors that are part of each brigade.

&bull 14 more combat service support soldiers, I think to manage acquisition of new equipment.

All these additions are scheduled to arrive in fiscal years 08-10.

The other largest chunks of incoming at Fort Lewis will be a “battlefield surveillance brigade” — intelligence — of 547 in fy10, and an “expeditionary sustainment command” — logistics — of 254 due in fy11.
