Fort Lewis gun batteries to salute Ford

That booming you might hear at noon today and again Wednesday afternoon is the rendering of military honors for former President Gerald Ford.


Fort Lewis will fire a 21-gun salute at noon and a 50-gun salute at 5 p.m. Wednesday in front of the I Corps headquarters building on post.


In accordance with custom, today they’ll fire one round every minute from an M8 75mm Howitzer. Tomorrow they’ll fire one round every five seconds.
