That booming you might hear at noon today and again Wednesday afternoon is the rendering of military honors for former President Gerald Ford.

Fort Lewis will fire a 21-gun salute at noon and a 50-gun salute at 5 p.m. Wednesday in front of the I Corps headquarters building on post.

In accordance with custom, today they’ll fire one round every minute from an M8 75mm Howitzer. Tomorrow they’ll fire one round every five seconds.
