One missed call = two runs and 10 extra pitches

If you just looked at the boxscore from Friday night’s 8-2 win, you’d see that Oliver Perez gave up two runs on three hits with a walk. So not exactly a good outing from the Mariners most consistent reliever. But if you watched the game, you’d know that those numbers are a bit skewed. Perez should have pitched one scoreless inning with one hit allowed and one strikeout.

Olivo, Sherrill, Perez and Millwood officially become free agents

The Mariners announced that four players from last season have officially become free agents – Catcher Miguel Olivo, and pitchers Oliver Perez, George Sherrill and Kevin Millwood.

One player that was expected to become a free agent is right-hander pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma. However, according to the Mariners, Iwakuma has until Saturday to negotiate a deal with the Mariners before becoming a free agent. It seems likely that  a deal with Iwakuma, who likes the organization, will get done.
