Mariners minor league report, July 18, 2013: Victor Sanchez tosses a no-hitter for Clinton

You may not have heard of Victor Sanchez, but soon you will.  The 18-year-old right-hander is one of the most promising pitching prospects in the Mariners lower minor leagues.

Last night, he gave a glimpse as to why.  Tossing nine hitless innings for the Clinton LumberKings in a 1-0 win over Lansing with his mom watching in the stands.

Elsewhere, the first-place  Rainiers are getting ready to return to action. They will have Jesus Montero likely back with them and the possibility of having Franklin Gutierrez or Stephen Pryor on rehab stints.

Mariners minor league report, May 3, 2013: Paxton looks strong for Tacoma

James Paxton had perhaps had his best out of the season for the Rainiers, pitching five innings and giving up one run on two hits while striking out nine hitters and walking just one. Tacoma managed to hang on to win its ninth game in the row, despite a late rally by Reno.  Carlos Triunfel had three more hits for Tacoma.

Class A High Desert picked up a 9-7 win over Lancaster. Ji-Man Choi went 3-for-5 with a double and a homer.

Rain cancelled games for Jackson and Clinton.
