Mariners minor league report, August 18, 2013: Peguero blasts a walk-off grand slam

Carlos Peguero gave the Rainiers a win in walk-off fashion as only he can – blasting a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-3 win.

Mariners minor league report, August 1, 2013: Pryor struggles for Rainiers, Choi’s grand slam paces Generals

The Rainiers continue to struggle, getting shutout 8-0 by the Omaha Storm Chasers. Stephen Pryor gave up five runs on five hits with a walk and  a wild pitch and never recorded an out in his outing. Pryor is rehabbing a strained lat muscle that’s kept him out basically the entire season. Pryor hadn’t thrown in six days with the Rainiers because of what general manager Jack Zduriencik termed “general soreness.”

Mariners 16, Reds 0 — a different kind of hit fiesta

 

The facts

Brandon Maurer made another strong case for the starting rotation, pitching five shutout innings, giving up six hits and striking out seven batters, while walking one. For the spring, Maurer has allowed just two runs in 20 innings pitched. He also got plenty of run support with 16 runs on 16 hits, including two more home runs to push their major league leading total to 52 this spring. The 52 homers is a franchise record, snapping the previous record of 51 set in 1999.
