Friday’s starting line-ups, official game notes, updated stats vs. the Brewers

While the Mariners’ line-up is far from a murderer’s row, the Brewers ‘ line-up is just, um, well, wow. It’s not good. Our old friend Yuniesky Betancourt is back in Seattle and playing first base. The Brewers lost Corey Hart early in the season to an injury. They lost Ryan Braun to selfishness and just the other day Rickie Weeks was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Speaking of the disabled list, Franklin Gutierrez is going to remain there for the time being. The Mariners are trying to get him another 20-day rehab stint with the Rainiers. His last

Taijuan Walker inning limit? Gutierrez, Stearns notes

In Double-A Jackson, Taijuan Walker had a scintillating 2.46 ERA in 84 innings.

Since joining Triple-A Tacoma last month, he’s been even better – a 2.42 ERA in 26 innings.

Walker, who will turn 21 on Aug. 13, makes his sixth start tonight against the visiting Omaha Storm Chasers. He’s 2-0 in five starts with the sterling ERA and 29 strikeouts.

But the bigger question is how much of the season does he have left? Walker’s five innings against Tucson his last start put him at 110 innings for the season dating back to his 25 starts with the Jackson

“It’s time,” Wedge said. “The guy brings so much energy to the top our line-up and the top of the order. But this is a good day off for him. I already told him not

Mariners line-up vs. the Angels

Here’s the line-up for today’s game against the Angels. It will be a big day for Jeremy Bonderman as he is scheduled to pitch four innings. People have mentioned on Twitter about Franklin Gutierrez’s absence in the lineup the past few days. He last played on March 9. We talked to Gutierrez, who said he has some stiffness in his legs. The Mariners decided to give him a break from games, but he’s still been at the complex every day taking BP and doing his normal work.

The Mariners get to see Josh

Position preview: So many outfielders, so many questions

A year ago, it didn’t seem as though Michael Saunders was going to make the Seattle Mariners roster coming out of spring training. This season, Saunders might be the only outfielder that reports to spring training with a guaranteed spot in the lineup.

Yes, the Mariners have nine outfielders coming to major league spring training. And there’s a decent idea as to which four or five they may keep. But how it will all play out is far from certain.

There are legitimate questions:

Can they truly expect Franklin Gutierrez to be their every day center fielder based on his
