Mariners minor league report, August 18, 2013: Peguero blasts a walk-off grand slam

Carlos Peguero gave the Rainiers a win in walk-off fashion as only he can – blasting a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-3 win.

Mariners minor league report, August 16, 2013: Rain slows Walker, Ard with a walk-off hit

The only thing that could slow down Taijuan Walker last night was the rain the Rainiers were forced to play through in a 5-3 loss to Round Rock. Before the conditions got sloppy, Walker was his usual dominant self.

Walker allowed just two hits and struck out eight (above) during the first five innings before conditions went to hell. here’s some more video of Walker striking out Engel Beltre, taken by Jason Cole of Baseball Prospectus

Mariners minor league report, June 26, 2013: Walker with his first so-so start in Triple A

Taijuan Walker had his first tough start of his time in Triple A. Of course, Walker’s tough start is still better than most, giving up five runs in five innings. But Rich Poythress made it all work in the end, blasting a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th in a 6-5 win.

Mariners minor league report, June 18, 2013: Rainiers score 7 in an inning, Peterson plans for a short stay in Everett

Tacoma got all seven of its runs in one inning and rolled to a 7-5 win over the Sacramento.  James Paxton had his best outing in over month. The left-hander worked six innings, giving up four singles and one unearned run. He walked just two, while striking out five. His fastball was clocked in the mid-90s. Stefen Romero had a big single (above) for the Rainiers.

Double A Jackson lost 1-0 to Birmingham in a rain shortened game.  It wrapped up the first half of their season.
