Carlos Peguero gave the Rainiers a win in walk-off fashion as only he can – blasting a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-3 win.

Mike Curto has some game notes on his daily blog post.  Curto also had his weekly minor league notebook in our paper with notes on former Mariner Ryan Feierabend and Patrick Kivlehan.

Double A Jackson couldn’t complete a series sweep over Montgomery, falling 8-2.  Generals’ radio play-by-play man Chris Harris has a breakdown of a getaway

Mariners minor league report, August 16, 2013: Rain slows Walker, Ard with a walk-off hit

The only thing that could slow down Taijuan Walker last night was the rain the Rainiers were forced to play through in a 5-3 loss to Round Rock. Before the conditions got sloppy, Walker was his usual dominant self.

Walker allowed just two hits and struck out eight (above) during the first five innings before conditions went to hell. here’s some more video of Walker striking out Engel Beltre, taken by Jason Cole of Baseball Prospectus

Walker has now thrown 130 innings on the season. He

Mariners minor league report, August 1, 2013: Pryor struggles for Rainiers, Choi’s grand slam paces Generals

The Rainiers continue to struggle, getting shutout 8-0 by the Omaha Storm Chasers. Stephen Pryor gave up five runs on five hits with a walk and  a wild pitch and never recorded an out in his outing. Pryor is rehabbing a strained lat muscle that’s kept him out basically the entire season. Pryor hadn’t thrown in six days with the Rainiers because of what general manager Jack Zduriencik termed “general soreness.”

Mike Curto discussed the game and the problems with the Rainiers on his daily blog .

Mariners minor league report, June 1, 2013: Mike Zunino homers twice in Colorado Springs

Mike Zunino continues to hit away from Tacoma. Last night in Colorado Springs he hit a pair of home runs, including the g0-ahead game winner (above)  in the top of the ninth in the Rainiers 6-5 win.

Zunino’s home/road splits are ridiculous …  From Minor League Central …

As a proud resident of Tacoma, someone needs to show Zunino that the Grit City is a great place to hit a baseball.  Take him to MSM Deli for a Mike’s Deluxe, or the Red Hot for a hot dog or DOA for breakfast

Mariners minor league report, May 5, 2013: More opinions on Nick Franklin

I forgot to link to this the other day. But Dave Cameron of USS Mariner offers some thoughts on when to call up Nick Franklin. I agree with pretty much all of it.

I get tweets about it every day. Every day. And I just don’t think it’s a priority for the Mariners. They want to see if Franklin, and or Triunfel can play with a level of consistency that they haven’t shown in Tacoma in the past. When it comes to Franklin or Triunfel, the Mariners have to know that either of them are physically, mentally and emotionally
