Jesus Montero’s suspension an opportunity to move on

The Seattle Mariners aren’t caught up in the same wreckage as the New York Yankees, but the announcement from the office of Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig of a 50-game suspension for Jesus Montero and 11 other players – as well as Alex Rodriguez’ suspension through the 2014 season – for violations of the league’s Joint Drug and Prevention Program sent a ripple that was felt throughout the league.

It was dubbed “Biogenesis Day.” It provided emotions of frustration, disgust, confusion and condemnation, but also of justice served on a day that will forever be remembered in MLB baseball

Montero linked again to Biogenesis lab in ESPN report, plus lineups and notes

Some big news from ESPN on an otherwise quiet day at the park. Outside the Lines is reporting that Major League Baseball is about to suspend 20 or so players because of their involvement with the now-closed anti-aging clinic Biogenesis in Miami. Among those on the list of players who could be disciplined by MLB is Mariners catcher Jesus Montero. Montero was initially linked to the lab in a New York Daily News story.

Report: Jesus Montero linked to performance enhancing drug scandal in Miami (updated with response from the Mariners)

About 2 a.m. this morning, the New York Daily News posted a story that Mariners catcher Jesus Montero has been linked to the performance enhancing drug scandal at the Biogenesis Clinic in Miami.

You can add Montero’s name to the list players that include Melky Cabrera, Alex Rodriguez, Nelson Cruz, Gio Gonzalez and now even Ryan Braun have been linked to it.
