Friday’s starting line-ups, official game notes, updated stats vs. the Brewers

While the Mariners’ line-up is far from a murderer’s row, the Brewers ‘ line-up is just, um, well, wow. It’s not good. Our old friend Yuniesky Betancourt is back in Seattle and playing first base. The Brewers lost Corey Hart early in the season to an injury. They lost Ryan Braun to selfishness and just the other day Rickie Weeks was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Speaking of the disabled list, Franklin Gutierrez is going to remain there for the time being. The Mariners are trying to get him another 20-day rehab stint with the Rainiers. His last

Raul Ibanez disgusted with MLB drug usage

Raul Ibanez has played in the Majors for a long time. Eighteen years to be exact and with four different teams.

His capacity to understand how a mass drug suspension, such as what was administered from MLB commissioner Bud Selig’s office today of 13 players, including Jesus Montero of the Mariners, will affect the integrity, perception and outlook of the game.

Ibanez didn’t hold back when expressing his contempt for the actions of the suspended players when talking with area reporters in the clubhouse before the Seattle Mariners game Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Here’s what he had to

Thursdy’s line-ups, official game notes, updated stats vs. the Red Sox

After a 5-hour, 15-inning game, the Mariners line-up looks a little different. Acting manager Robby Thompson decided to rest 41-year-old Raul Ibanez, who played all 15 innings last night.

“He said he felt great and was ready to go,” Thompson said.  ”But I think the smart thing was to give him a day. We’re going to get in late tonight and early morning and he’ll be back in there tomorrow. But we have to be smart with him. He is in great shape and he’s rarin’ to go and it’s hard to keep him out of there, but I think

Nick Franklin threw his arms up, kicked his legs and turned a shout loose.

It was a pose akin to Felix Hernandez’s celebration when the ace finished his perfect game last season, immortalizing “Felixing.” Franklin’s display was an extrapolation born of having feigned the move so many times prior when clowning around.

Tuesday’s line-ups, official game notes and updated stats vs. the Indians

Most of the pregame stuff was spent discussing Eric Wedge’s condition. Robby Thompson had no update on Michael Morse, who played five innings today in right field with Tacoma. He went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. It’s possible they wait on a decision with Morse for a few days. They may want to see him play more. Morse was supposed to come back to Safeco tonight to meet with the Mariners medical staff.

Not sure what the roster move would be if and when Morse comes back. It used to seem logical to send

Monday game notes, updated stats and lineups

As we posted prior, Jeremy Bonderman is out and Lucas Luetge is up.

The Mariners have Erasmo Ramirez lined up — he last pitched July 5 — to be prepared to start Thursday’s day game against the Red Sox. Eric Wedge said he knows who Thursday’s starter will be, and that he will be coming from Tacoma, but was not ready to announce it yet.
